Editing  & Proofreading

Errors show that you have weaknesses, while well-written, clean copy leads to credibility—a key part of reaching your goals. I offer two editorial services to support you in this: copyediting and proofreading.

Which Service Is Right For You?

While editing, editors mainly target higher-level issues, so we are liable to miss grammatical details and typos. Even though we scan for those while editing as well, proofreading focuses on this.

So, if you already received professional editing on your text, or are confident it's in nearly perfect shape (maybe it was written by a professional copywriter), then a proofread alone is great.

Why Proofreading Is Important After Editing

Otherwise, for best results, customers will request copyediting, review my edits, and then request proofreading. This is so I can make sure they have input the changes correctly without introducing new mistakes and that any final, tiny flubs have been cleared away.

→ For printed materials, I can perform a proofread before and/or after the typesetting stage.

If you're still unsure which service you'll most benefit from, show me your project, and I'll make a recommendation.

How It Works

Normally, I perform my services with Microsoft Word's Track Changes, a tool that allows you to see my corrections and accept or reject them. (Don't have Word? Download OpenOffice, which is compatible and free.)

However, if you prefer, I can use Adobe Acrobat or some other program for this purpose.

Thank you so much for working on this for me. You did a great job! When you're so close to something, it can be hard to figure out what needs to be done to make it better. You were able to tighten up my writing, take out a lot of clunky and unnecessary sections, and make this piece shine. Thank you!
